5 Simple Steps to Organise Your Home Office Space
It's time to talk about home office ladies! Most of us had to create one over the last year (thanks covid!). So what about giving you the 5 steps I used for a client of mine?
Let's go!
1- DECLUTTER
Yes, you don’t have to keep all the junk out there. If your office is the home to extra books, dvd's, empty boxes, and other habitants that should not be living here, just have them leave.
Ask your self “what do I really need everyday to work? My desk, my chair, my files, my notebooks?” Make a list and stick to it!

2- DEFINE ZONES
I like to define zones for any projects. They bring some flow and are in alignment with my client’s way of living.
In this specific makeover, we defined 4 zones that work for her:
1-Work (desk, chair, computer and printer)
2-Archives (shelves with boxes and drawers)
3-Planning (planners/ family calendars on wall)
4-Inspirational (art from her children on the wall, sentimental objects on desk and shelves)
Now get yourself going and list your zones!
3- GET THE RIGHT FURNITURES
Got a narrow office where natural light is limited? Get some side open shelving to let more brightness in!
Your desk has an optimised size and adds some warmth to the room? Well, keep it.
Ask yourself “How do I want to feel in my office? Energised? Calm?"
Go on Pinterest and create a moodpboard.
It will influence your furniture choice in terms of size, colors and materials.

4- GET THE RIGHT CONTAINERS
Now that you know how much items you need to store (thanks step1), take measurement and find containers that are beautiful and functional.
Paper tray is a must on the desk as it will contain and organise papers.
For you folders, you can regroup them in one place in easy to grab containers
Don’t hesitate to mix up different kind of material (wood, paper, plastic, etc.) as it will add texture to your home office

5- USE LABELS
Labels are magical! They make you find everything easily. They keep you accountable when putting items back. Also, they can be changed overtime. They don’t trap you into a system, they are here to serve you for the amount of time you need.
